Frequently Asked Questions

Reaching out for help is a big step. Here are the questions clients ask most before their first session.

FAQ

Getting started

How does the free consultation work?

It’s a 15 to 30 minute phone call with Diana. You’ll share what’s going on, ask any questions, and together decide whether Curated is the right fit. There’s no obligation.

Does my partner have to come to the first call?

No. Many people call on their own first, often because they aren’t sure how to bring it up with their partner. We can talk through how to invite them.

What if my partner refuses to come to therapy?

You can still start. Individual therapy can help you understand the relationship pattern and change your part in it, which often shifts the whole dynamic. Many reluctant partners join later.

Do you offer sessions in person and online?

Yes. Sessions are available in person at our Boca Raton office or by secure video for clients located in Florida.

Do you offer therapy in Spanish?

Sí. Diana is fully bilingual and offers every service in English and Spanish, including sessions with couples who speak both.

FAQ

Fees and insurance

Why is Curated a private-pay practice?

Private pay keeps your care in your hands. Insurance companies usually require a mental health diagnosis for one partner and can limit how long or how often you are seen. Couples therapy often doesn’t qualify for coverage at all. Private pay means complete confidentiality and a treatment plan based on your needs, not an insurer’s rules.

Can I use my out-of-network benefits?

Some clients seek partial reimbursement from their insurer for individual therapy. [confirm: whether you provide a superbill or statement] Check your plan’s out-of-network mental health benefits before your first session.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions are $200 each.* Your free consultation is always complimentary.

*Overage fees apply.

FAQ

Couples therapy

How long does couples therapy take?

It depends on your goals and what brought you in. Some couples see meaningful change in a few months; others, especially after betrayal, benefit from longer work. We’ll review progress together regularly.

Will you take sides?

No. Diana’s client is the relationship. Both partners will feel understood, and both will be asked to look at their part.

Is it too late for couples therapy?

If one of you is seriously considering divorce, discernment counseling may be a better first step. It helps you decide with clarity whether to try repairing the marriage.

FAQ

Infidelity recovery

Can a marriage really survive an affair?

Many couples do rebuild, and some describe a stronger relationship afterward. It takes honesty, full accountability from the partner who strayed, and time. Recovery counseling gives that process structure.

What if the affair isn’t fully over?

Recovery work requires that the affair has ended. If it hasn’t, we’ll talk honestly about that during the consultation and whether discernment counseling or individual work is the better starting point.

What’s the difference between repair coaching and counseling?

Counseling is clinical therapy for couples dealing with anxiety, depression or trauma symptoms after betrayal. Repair coaching is a structured, forward-focused option for emotionally steady couples. Coaching is not therapy.

FAQ

Discernment counseling

How is discernment counseling different from couples therapy?

Couples therapy assumes both partners want to work on the relationship. Discernment counseling is for couples where one partner is leaning toward divorce. It lasts one to five sessions and helps you choose a direction.

Will you try to talk us out of divorce?

No. There is no preferred outcome. The goal is a decision you both understand and can live with.

FAQ

Co-parenting

My co-parent won’t participate. Can you still help?

Yes. Working with one parent can reduce conflict significantly, because changing how you respond changes the pattern between households.

Do you work with attorneys and mediators?

Yes. Diana has collaborative divorce training and welcomes referrals from family law professionals. Co-parenting counseling is therapeutic, not a custody evaluation.

FAQ

Privacy and safety

Is what I share confidential?

Yes, with limits set by Florida law, such as situations involving imminent danger to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult. We’ll review these limits in detail at your first session.

What if I’m in crisis?

Curated is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day.
